Poser pour la Liberté / Standing for Freedom is the result of the research-creation project Regards sur les exils scientifiques contraints d’hier et d’aujourd’hui (RESTRICA), conceived by Pascale Laborier, professor at Paris-Nanterre University and the Institut des Sciences Sociales du Politique (ISP), and Pierre-Jérôme Adjedj, Berlin-based photographer and co-founder of Sur mesure.
Their approach aims to make academic exile visible and understandable, without freezing this moment in their trajectory. To achieve this, the creative process juxtaposes the photographed face with elements (objects and photos) that tell the person’s story. These photos, representing the country of origin and the host country, as well as these personal objects or objects related to the field of research, are placed together in the device and superimposed at the moment of shooting, without any subsequent photomontage, thus creating a unique visual palimpsest.
Geo-recits is a narrative cartography project initiated by Pascale Laborier. Geo-récits takes you on a journey through the lives of exiled scientists, artists and intellectuals from different parts of the world.
